Buffalo Acquires Sidney Crosby

the Buffalo Sabres have reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Flyers that sees Crosby going to the Sabres and Staal to the Flyers. Other minor pieces are said to be involved in the deal.

More news to come...

Wow!

Staal is Top-10 in NHL goal scoring with 16.

Crosby is Top-5 in NHL passing with 24.

The biggest difference between these two young superstars is Staal's a RFA who will ask for a huge salary increase whereas Crosby is locked in at a low salary for three years.

it will be interesting to get more details. Talentwise I think they are almost on par.

OK.... i agree with you that crosby is almost completely equal to staal in FHL, which is why i only dealt crosby and his contract serenity for a package like this:

Crosby, Andreychuk, Nj 5th '07, Nj 6th '07

for

Staal, Smid, Preissing, Tb 1st '07, Buf 4th '07, $2 mil.

Anyways, i think i got a good enough deal that it was worth it to get a guy like smid and preissing, as well as the cash and huge upgrades in picks....

Dang!

Looks like Philly got a lot out of the deal but Buffalo is deep in young talent and could afford it.

Crosby fans everywhere will think they won the deal. After all, their hockey god has arrived.

I like the Staal side, I don't think Crosby is worth that much more than Staal in an fhl league. More ya, but that is a lot more.

How's this trade looking now:D

Crosby Leading the league by 14 points with 87 poitns (25+62). And at least 5 games less than everyone which is at least another 5 or 6 points.

Staal 24+29= 53. Crosby managed to pass him in goals as well.

Smid playing okay in edmonton, logging a lot of minutes, but so would mostly anyone in the NHL;)

Preissing haveing a not bad year with 31 poitns, but a UFA in 2 years.

TB 1st looks to be a good asset.
