NYR/ San Jose Deal

Rangers were at it again pulling off another big trade the other night shipping highly touted and sought after Henrik Sedin and  RJ Umberger to the Sharkies for good promising youngsters.

At the top of the list is talented youngster Matt Stajan who will be centering one of the top lines next year along with Alexander Steen who also is a top 6 forward now and in the future.  These two youngsters easily surpass Henrik in value and overall worth in my opinion.   Also coming to New York is Alexei Ponikarovsky who is finally breaking through and having a great year for the leafs.  Look for him to continue his great season all through the year thanks to a rejuvenated younger leafs team.  Also move to NY in the deal was young montreal prospect Sergei Kostitsyn who is set to surpass his brothers marks and may even get a crack at the big club towards the end of the season.  Yes he is currently 4th in scoring on his team in the OHL, as one gm was quick to point out to me, but everything you read on this kid says he's a legit bluechipper and hes not going away.

On a side note, anyone see my stud prospect Stanislav Chistov figure into the scoring in his first game as a Bruin last night???????????????   DAM he's gonna be sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the armchair fellow Gm bashing commence, I have big shoulders I can take it, at least I know i'll have Columbus on my side.

How does that Blue Leaf flavoured Kool-Aid taste? Gotta be stale after 40 years doesn't it?

LOL wtf no not on this one. Sorry but you got ridden like a country fair pony. And this coming from a Leafs fan. Poni, Stajan and Steen are pretty good players but it's up in the air whether any will be consistent 2nd liners. Poni and Stajan probably fit in the borderline 2nd/very good 3rd line category. However their stats aren't a fluke so far as both have been excellent, Poni, especially is a defensive force. Steen however seems to have regressed from last season when he showed a terrific offensive game. Stajan could end up as a 2nd liner, Poni is likely a very very good 3rd liner and Steen who knows right now.

Umberger cancels out at least one of those guys so it's Sedin for say Ponikarovksy, Stajan and Kostitsyn, someone call the NYPD ASAP cause there is a robbery taking place.

Kostitsyn isn't half as talented as his older brother, and he's a bust. I wouldn't even factor him into this trade.

Sedin, a surefire 80 pt likely 90 pt player this year for two good 2nd/3rd liners off to hot starts...pwned.

WOW!

I'm a die hard Leaf fan, but even i know that Stajan and Steen aren't even close to Sedin. Steen has taken a HUGE step back this year and is looking like an AHler. Stajan is solid but will never put up huge numbers in the NHL.

Poni is the best guy you are getting back.

Whatever this one doesn't look that bad after you pulled off a sweet deal for Hossa. You now have one of the deepest NHL-ready forward groups in the league. All are around the same age and should mature together. And you've still got a bunch of old stuff to peddle for picks and prospects
