HUGE trade between Rangers and Lightning

Ni time to write a big article but here's the trade:
To Tampa Bay: Marian Hossa, Janne Niinimaa, Garth Murray, Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, Cory Urquhart, Sean Burke and NYR1 Y2008

To NY Rangers: Scott Gomez, Danny Markov, Radim Vrbata, Nolan Schaefer and Janis Sprukts

Marian Hossa will come in Tampa and be the big scorer that I was looking for and he can also play on the PK which will help a lot. He's one of the most complete players in the NHL.

Gomez has 11 points in 10 NHL games.

Vrbata also has 11 pts in 10 NHL games.

Rangers get two stars for the price of a superstar and 1st rounder.

It's 10 games into the season. I would be very careful about labelling Vrbata a star. With Havlat Ruutu and Handzus out his production is going to go in the tank. Otherwise let's just crown Afinogenov scoring champion.

Vrbata a star? may be a little early after 10 games. I guess I should trade for Souray, 12 points in 10 games, what a star!!!

Need I remind you that re-rates are based on the previous NHL season, so a player that scores 80 pts in 82 games WILL be rated like a star the following season.

Perhaps you think Vrbata will go cold and not even get 50 pts. Possible, but unlikely.

I tried several times to trade for Vrbata. I didn't try hard enough obviously.

Given that his best year has been 39 points in 61 games and he hasn't shown a steady improvement in point production, it's far more likely he'll get 50-60 than he'll keep up a a ppg rate.

I think Vrbata will get about 60 points but he's not known for his defense and he's not a big guy so even if he gets 60-65 pts he will not be a star. Gomez is a great player as well, 90 pts guy but he's also not as complete as Hossa. Plus Hossa gives me a much better chance at the cup this year which is my goal.
