Columbus is stating he was told 24 hours by the league. The rules without a doubt say every team has 48 hours.
"Once a player is on waivers every team will have 48 hours to claim him, if he is not claimed he will be on your farm roster. "
Now it's not that I have a problem if the league wants it to be 24 hours, but I have a huge problem if they want to enforce 24 hours while the 48 hour rule is clearly what's on the rules page. There's nothing about roster violations being different (and frankly why would there be, if you put someone on waivers, you put someone on waivers), so I see zero reason why Columbus would be told 24 hours.
If the league wants it to be 24 hours, hey, no problem. Just tell us that effect Wednesday, the waiver rule will be changed to 24 hours. But I have a big problem if they want to arbitrarily change a rule, mid process, without telling people. It's not the rule that's being changed, it's that the rules, as listed, aren't what we're doing.
Also, I fully agree that we should all have to pay attention to see if a guy is placed on waivers, and we shouldn't simply have a league announcement about guys on waivers. 100% agree... we should have to pay attention. But are we going to be expected to have to look up every player who gets sent to the farm to see if they're 70 OV? Why aren't they listed on the waivers page? That is the page we should have to pay attention to...
