why is a good player on waivers??????????????

I'm pissed. I can't seem to pull a trade to get a 70 passing defenseman 73 OV - exactly what I'm looking for - and suddenly a guy like that comes and goes on waivers.

Why didn't Pens g.m. try and trade Desjardins away????????

There is NO cap issue with his team!!!!!!

What's going on here?

There's a greater issue with this being a money league there are hundreds of dollars at stake.

wait... i don't see ANY players on waiver

Bluejackets might have just jumped the gun with his announcement (on the trade forum)

Any league I've ever been in has (a) players are put on the waiver wire first and (b) one needs room under the cap before a player can be claimed, neither of these two conditions seem to have happened with Desjardins.

nope columbus did not jump the gun...

he was on waivers on fridays transactions list.. and he claimed him...

nothing we can do about what other gms do to their teams.. pitts will regret their mistake. but maybe they saw desjardins as a flaw... and lets be honest. who would take desjardins 2. something million contract on for 1 yr. and lose him to ufa... even though he's a 73 rated players.. im sure he wont be much in this sim league.

oh well congrats columbus i put in a bid on him as well and we boht had the same amount of points for the waiver priority you just beat me barely because of less wins than me...  Thats what i get.. lose a waiver player to another team in my own division

Desjardins was an 8th round draft pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he was stolen from me and probably a few other teams would have picked him up

commishes, don't you question g.m.s as to why they are putting 8th rounders from a 50-round entry draft on waivers on the second week of the first season???? there's no cap issue.

i'm not in the bluejackets division or even conference so it's not an issue for me until the finals.

Ya, it may have been another mistake with his lines. But he did have Demitra and Amonte in the farm for a while because of that as well, so it probably should have been sorted out.

Well, I'm also a little miffed about such good players being put on Waivers, but Dempsey was claimed a few days ago, and he is certainly a very serviceable defenseman who has a chance to put up decent numbers in the NHL this year.

Desjardins is good for this year, but he still may be tough to unload. At his pricetage and only for one year, I guess we'll see. But I certainly agree that he could have been moved rather than waived.

This is why when Dempsey was waived and them claimed by Chicago without anyone so much as batting an eyelash I requested that there be some kind of notification when a player is waived. In the NHL you can bet that all 30 GMs know when a guy is on waivers.

Well you sent him down, that means he's automatically put on Waivers. You already did this with Demitra and Amonte. It should have been fixed then.

sadly, I do know from another league I'm in that there sometimes simply are problems with the sim/GMEditor where the lines a guy sends in simply aren't what gets loaded. And problems just like this arise.

But... at the same time, I've also seen it where a guy swears up and down that he didn't put someone on waivers, but then when he goes back and checks his sent file for the lines he sent... he did indeed (by accident perhaps, but that's what he sent in). Not saying that's what happened here, but I've seen it for sure.

Well, that solves that.

Well I guess it's up to Eric now. If he didn't even send in lines and he was someone magically put on waivers, then of course I have no problem with the claim being reversed. But if on the other hand he did send in lines and sent him down, well he should be held accountable according to the rules.

I don't even know if the claim went through or what the rule is exactly on it, so I guess we'll wait and see.

Yes, this seems pretty bizarre. Im not sure how all the waivers work jusst yet, but this might be a mistake that we are unaware of yet and need to learn from it.

Being a former commish myself I have seen all sorts of screw-ups by the GM Editor when people send in lines.  I have seen good players sent to the farm because the sim screwed up.  Not saying that is what happened here, but if the Pens GM says he didn't send him down on purpose that is good enough for me.

I mean really....  what is the benifit for him to send down Desjardins OR to lie about it after?  Give the Pens the player back and figure out what the problem is.  The purpose of waivers is for when a team wants to waive a guy, not for when there is a glitch (for whatever reason) that the GM that checks the page most often gets paid off.
