I dont really get why the roster requirments were changed from having 8 rated defencemen to 7 defencemen as per the email sent out today? Its just a little annoying that we drafted a rated guy as our 8th D when we would have rather taken a prospect of some sorts. Can someone explain this? Things shouldnt really change like that without some discussion or grand fathering in of the rules, no?
Does it matter? If you had only drafted 6 rated D's you could have signed 2 of your prospects to fill your roster. Basically makes no difference what the rule was and shouldn't have affected your drafting.
Obviously it does matter, because I just said in my post that we would have liked to draft a prospect we liked over the guy we drafted who was rated. Did you even read my post before this kind of response? Like if it didnt matter, why would I post this?

It doesn't matter! If you think that 7 D's is enough for YOU (forget the rules) then you should have drafted your prospect and then signed him to meet the minimum of 8. I drafted 4 C's because that's all I think I need and I signed prospects to reach the minimum of 5.

We're allowed to sign some of our prospects even if they aren,t rated just to fill out our roster. So my point is if you,re 8th D was simply to fill out your roster and you don't think you'll need him there was no point because to reach the minomum you coul dhave simply signed one of the prospects you drafted.
My understanding of the rule was that you need 5 of each forward position, 8 dmen and 3 goalies with rates. Prospects sign do not count towards this. So if you draft one center and you sign 4 from your prospect list, you are still 4 centers with rates short.

No it was said some of your prospects can be signed and will be given ****ty ratings so that teams can reach the minimum requirements.

My understanding was that this would only be done for your farm team
This obviously needs clarification from Eric or Bryce.
And Philippe you dont even read my posts, thats what makes this pointless. We obviously have some kind of communication error. When you say "sign prospects" does that mean they are just brought into your overall roster? Or are you meaning sign them to a 3 year contract and have them rated 50's across the board from WITHIN your prospect pool? This is where the confusion lies for me. But I still dont know if I can have 50 players on my roster and then sign more and end up with some 60 players under my system?
Also if you CANNOT have prospects signed at 50s across the board then IT DOES MATTER, so stop being so definitive.
