"If I Could Trade my Team"

If you could trade your team for another team, who's team would you choose?

Probably my two favourite teams that have been assembled are Philly and Buffalo. I'm not completely enamoured with Philly, but I think they have what it takes to compete this year and in the future. Beginning next year Crosby is going to make any reasonably skilled linemates into top scoring wingers. When you can build a top line around one player, and have the advantage of signing or trading for cheap reasonably skilled players that you can throw on the top line and be confident that they will produce, you've already got a great future. Kapanen, Mellanby and Moreau are perfect grinding players, and should make a nice compliment to Crosby, Naslund, Kotalik and Afinogenov. Toskala may be a bit of a weakness in net, but compared to a lot of other teams Philly isn't doing too bad. If Toskala can win the starting job he's going to have a great rerate.

The other team I would trade with (If I had to) is Buffalo. Any other team that was rebuilding was napping a bit, or put way too much emphasis on players that are created in the sim already. Players like Umberger, Pouliot, Nokelainen and Greene (to pick on the commish's team) are in the NHL and have less question marks than a lot of the prospects that Buffalo took, but a lot of the guys on the Sabres could bypass those players as early as next year. And both teams won't be ready to compete for a while, IMO. The Sabres have a dynamite blueline and basically snatched up as many top prospects as they could, whether they were in the NHL already or not. While I think it was probably a mistake to take players like Mcardle, Parent and some others over safer prospects with just as much upside, but the Sabres have assembled a dynamite cast of prospects. The thing I like about that move is that most of them will hover around the same value of a 1st round pick until they get a crack at the NHL, so they're good trade bait.

RE: "If I Could Trade my Team"

My ambitions are more modest...

I don't want the entire Columbus BlueJacket roster, I just want the guys you stole from me: Prospal, Goc, Soderberg, Reasoner (whom you then traded for one of the few others taken from me just before I was gonna draft him:: Stumpel), Nummelin, Metropolit, Korolyuk, Snow, Hordichuk, Boguniecki. It's like you and you alone were looking at my shortlists. Creepy. (You and I must do a deal sometime, or die!)

You can have Garth Snow for management purposes.

Exactly. it was destined to be. What a lark.

But you went and took him too soon. So I had to get Thibault. Maybe we can do a deal later in the season to let him finish the season on Long Island, in time to... hey! take my job?

Thanks for the compliment Columbus, Luke and I actually like your team quite a bit too, we've talked to you about that and have mentioned how we think you have as good a chance as most teams at the cup as well as some solid future too.

Ok every one kiss and hug now !   GEESH   My shirts wet from all the tears shedding listening to you guys talk about your teams. I was laughing so hard the tears were unavoidable.

Pittsburgh will rule the roost, but I guess if i had to pick another team that i like, it would be Florida for their overall balance.
