Rules for trading during draft (READ IMMEDIATELY)
Permalink Closed

After a discussion and vote by the BOD this is the rule for trading during the draft.

- Trading is allowed, HOWEVER no trade is to be sent to the commish office unless all players involved have been drafted already. We will NOT be changing draft order night of. If you have a deal in place with a GM you pick each others players and then once all players are on the rosters.

- If you send in a deal saying that team X gets a pick in a future round it will be deleted their is no tolerance on this.

- For example if Boston & Calgary agree to trade picks in the 1st, 2nd and 4th rounds they would have to wait until after the fourth round is complete to send in the deal. So during the 1st, 2nd, and 4th rounds, Boston would send Calgary a list to send to us and vice versa. If the draft is live Boston could just tell Calgary who to pick.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS POST THEM HERE, LETS GET THIS SO EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS

If you trade picks, you cannot pick on your aquired picks behalf. The pick must be selected by the Team in the spot. If you acquire a pick, it would be of your best interest to send a list to the team so that they can make a pick for you. If you do not submit a list, and they do not pick for you, the trade is voided.

ALL Trades must be completed with an e-mail from both GMs. After EVERY INVOLVED player has been selected. I have been leniant on it thus far. but not anymore.

I don't want to get messages that "team x is picking for me." I want to be oblivious to trades, unless they involve my team. I will go down the order, and each team will make a selction, whether or not they'll retain the pick. If team does not make a selection, then the spot will be left open.

Is this effective immediately or are the previous deals I made with BLUES/KINGS/ISLANDERS grandfathered in???   If thier not grandfathered in then its going to be alot of extra work until those previous picks are exhausted.  Either way please let me know so I can get to work on it.  Thanks-Joe  NYRGM

i assume that the rule applies to all trades FROM HERE ON

not retroactively

(i traded away my 5th rounder and am going away for the weekend now and have no idea what the other g.m. wants to do with that pick)

Just so everyone can see it, and since I'm grandfathered in  i wanted to just clarify what has previously occured with my team and the TWO deals that will effect the round 5 draft.

Previously:

TO NYR: LA 4, LA 5

TO LA: NYR4,  NYR 5

and......

TO NYR: STL4,STL5,STL7

TO STL: LA 4, LA5, NYR7

So tonight  kings pick 20th, blues pick 27th and rangers pick 30.       Thanks and have a great draft everyone.

Bryce or Eric, What is the actual reason for not being able to trade picks without the person drafting? It just complicated things a lot...I don't really know why you can't just make a trade with picks that don't concern the immediate day's draft and just change the picks over.

I sort of understand for the night of trades, but i don't really understand if they are for future days.

example, If someone wanted to trade down in the draft like 10 spots and threw in a 20th rounder, i dont see why you would have to wait till round 20 to submit.

personally I agree. No question that on the day of, it can really mess things up, but otherwise, by agreeing to a trade beforehand, but not being able to actually make the picks yourself, you run the risk that the other party screws something up and either doesn't select the right player, sends in a wrong list... even changes their mind (although i'd hope if someone agreed to a trade, they'd follow through even if they regret doing it).

is the rule to make the commishes life easier?

if so, it's come at a great inconvenience to g.m.s

there ARE more convenient ways that don't involve a lot of hassle, especially in a BEST RUN hockey league!

how about cutting and pasting a master list on the round by round thread. takes ten minutes. then BETWEEN rounds, not the day of drafting, simply update the list

for example a trade between St. Louis and Boston could be registered in seconds:

29 Islanders

30 Bruins (from Blues)
