A few people have asked this, so I thought I woudl clarify;
The original draft process will be a 50 round draft, at which time any player or prospect can be taken at any time, exlcuding the Kessel, E/Johnson draft year
Kessel, E.Johnson, Toews etc.... will be in our first entry draft after season one (so next summer). At which point the order will be determined by the year 1 standings. The reason for running 1 year behind the NHL draft is the following,
1. Our ratings are based on the 05-06 season, so in all actuality our first season will be like the 05-06 season and the draft will follow it.
2. If Kessel was drafted, he could play against a guy like Steve Yzerman the first season in the BRHL2. However, if Yzerman retires this summer as expected, he and Kessel will have NEVER been in the NHL at the same time, if we drafted Kessel this season they could play a BRHL2 season together, doesn't make a lot of sense.
3. Rather than basically following the ISS or NHL draft order, having the draft a year later allows GMs to actually get more of a scouting read on a player. Then we aren' just following the NHL draftorder by and large.
