Trade Committee?

Did we start a trade committee? I have been a GM in this league for only about 1 and a half seasons and have watched numerous lop-sided deals go through without as much as a peep from anyone( aside from the odd prod at Kirk...lol). Suddenly out of nowhere 2 trades get vetoed...did someone not pay for their team? This is a cash league and teams are paid for in full for the season and as such can and should be run the way the GM see's fit unless trades are being completed between relatives or some suspected collusion is going on. Others in here have complained about teams tanking their roster to get a better draft position so does the league step in and start doing rosters for them? Obviously not so why do they have the right to veto a trade agreed upon by 2 GM's that don't have any contact with each other outside of this league? Once again this is only my 2 cents worth but this just adds gas to an already irritating season!

LOL, I had no idea that your deal got vetoed and had nothing to say about it before... but since you asked:

Carolina gets a top 15 NHLer...

SJ gets back 4 assets, none of which I would give a 3rd round pick for straight up....

San Jose would be rightly within his mind to want to tank if he hadn't already dealt his 1st round pick to Kirk... and seeing as how SJ is a new GM, I think a deal like this would at least raise some eyebrows! Not surprised it did.

Carolina wasn't involved with the trade, it was Washington. But, I'm assuming the Carolina GM and Washington GM are related, given the same last name? I'm guessing that's how the Carolina GM knows about the vetoed trade(s).

Regardless, the point stands. That was a down right terrible deal for San Jose, I don't think anyone can dispute that.

Ya, not as bad as the Sedin one.

And take a look back and Winnipeg's trades, pretty sure he didn't get that team making fair deals.

Marc Staal for Pekka Rinne was probably the worst deal I've ever seen in anything, Rex. So I wouldn't be talking. But I'm totally fine with the veto, in fact, he threw that at me and I wisely accepted. I actually offered a slightly better package to start. But as long as the Sedin trade was undone (which it was) I'm fine with mine being vetoed.

Absolutely I agree that the trades were lop-sided....and yes we are related...and no I was not involved in the trade...and yes eyebrows should be raised , but has anyone bothered to look at some of the trades that have happened over the past season? As a matter of fact there was one involving the Caps and Bruins that I wouldn't have made with a gun to my head ... Backstrom and a 1st for Getzlaf and??? Don't recall anyone getting involved with that deal as debatably a 1 for 1 was more then fair without the 1st being involved, and that doesn't even take into account the terrible year Getzlaf had this season and will not re-rate as well. I agree that these were not good deals but diving in and vetoeing trades sets a bad precedent and every deal will be scrutinized by every GM in the league now! The question will be how much complaining will be required for this to happen again?

so all of san jose trades are going to be reversed.... from start of season is crazy.. beyond crazy.. this is going to cause a very bad domino effect.. not to mention we are 1/2 the season thru.. where does it start and where does this end.

All I will say at this point, is there is a reason these last two deals have been reversed, and thats before we even begin to look at value.

There is no trade commitee, it is Eric and I who review trades, when necessary, and in some cases, concerns are brought to us by GMs.

The teams involved have been notified as to the next steps we are requiring.

I hate being vague like this, and I do apologize, but at this time, that is all I can say.
