so far i think nashville is the winner kostitsyn-gill for 2nd-2nd-geoffrion gives them ability to make conference final this year imo. with rinne-weber hot possibly a cup.
once cross checking is legal in the playoffs gill's value really goes up..
Best shut down D in the league is Gill. When Habs went to conference finals he shut down ovie and crosby consecutively. Still think Preds go out 2nd round or before.
i have to say there was no real winner .... they hype this trade deadline day soo much.. but its soo hard to make a trade in the cap world.... last 2 yrs are among the worst since 1990's ... but winner.. i say tampa bay.. getting a 1st rounder from detroit.. stocking up on 2nds.. getting some young dmen... i think they just need an offseason goalie and they could be ready to take the east by storm again.
I thought the Predators really made their roster strong... although paying such a high price for Gill and Gaustad was bad GMing IMO, while Kostitsyn has the potential to be worth his price.
Tampa Bay did well picks-wise, but Colorado looks like it knew what it was targeting going after Downie.
And the biggest losers on the day were the Buffalo Sabres.. After doing so, so well with the Gaustad move, they turned around and dealt a young stud in Kassian whom they could have gotten much more than Cody Hodgson for IMO, especially in the summer. And compound that by moving out Gragnani for Sulzer to boot..
Which makes the big winners... the Vancouver pussy (formerly?) Canucks.
And my Oilers got WAAAY stronger by keeping Hemsky. A top-6 winger whos been injury prone the last 2 years, but is easily a PPG player if healthy and confident.. (and we can move him anytime in between with no NTC, for roughly the exact same price, and very possibly more than we could have gotten at this deadline)
Plus Tambellini must be in my head getting rid of Tom sissy Gilbert for Nick Schultz... trust me when I say, he kicked around the thought of getting a bag of pucks back for Gilbert, but went with Schultz instead.

Get ahold of me soon, or my players will already be dealt!
Kassian a power forward...Hodgson more a speed and scoring type...not sure what the issue with that deal is? Both young future long term players with great upside but with totally different tool belts to bring to work daily. Buffalo has had trouble scoring and maybe Hodgson playing with Roy gets him finally going if they go that route...Vancouver needed the sand paper so IMO this is a pretty good swap of young talent. Agree totally with the previous comments on Nashville as they will be interesting to watch in the playoffs!
