The Sens were busy. With eyes focussed on 3rd overall pick, two deals were consumated to give them the star winger they wanted.
Ott moved the 6th overall selection, previously acquired for 14 and 20th overall. Included in the deal were a 2nd round selection in yr 7 and pick 111 overall.
The pick was then used to select Ryan Johansen, who was quickly moved with young defenseman Brendan Smith for Jeff Skinner and pick 62.
"We are very excited to get Jeff on the wing with either Stammer or Duch. He will fit either wing I am sure, but is likely to start with Matt."
Later selections were termed projects. Sondre Olden and Kent Simpson were taken in the 3rd round and will spend several seasons in juniors developing. "Both might be players, one day."
Day two sees the Sens with two selections and are thought to be looking at defense.
