just curious if he will be given the exact same deal he got nhl.. or if a team would be able to use his salary and the rfa calculator on a 3 yr deal.. or what the situation is for euro's who sign back in NHL..
kirk isn't trying to poke the bear (me ;) here... We were questioning each other if we knew... also looking for some clarification on that... Gerber came back off the Euro List because he was the AHL goalie for the Oilers last year (and a much better OV goalie than khabibulin) and is on a 1 yr - 700k deal.....
of course this makes him an UFA after the year... just curious how we handle these Euro dudes?

if we had a vote on it, id say we use the NHL deal they sign when they get back... yes this makes jagr more expensive for me, and an UFA, but on a case-to-case basis it is the fairest alternative, because a guy like martin gerber, owen nolan, etc. are going to be on 1 yr veteran minimum deals...just makes sense that once your guy goes to russia/europe the "great deal" you may have had on him is a moot point.. he isn't in the NHL!
So when they get back to the NHL, since we are 1 yr behind, that should be their deal. IMO.
