In an unusual deal today, the Penquins shipped out Pavel Kubina to the Canadiens in exchange for Danile Alfredsson, Andrew Ference, and Rod BrindAmour.
"We were happy to move out a big contract for next season, and in return, pick up some vets whose deals expire after this season. We have no issue paying thei salaries and providing our fans something to cheer for as we play the stretch out this season, and if they move before the deadline, great, if not, we are happy to have them."
That being said, Alfreddson, Ference and Brindy immediatly go on the trading block.
Penguins have shipped Wojtek Wolski to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Daniel Carcillo and Atl 1st.
"We received a ton of offers on Wolski the last month or so since we acquired him, and held out for the package we wanted, which was a 1st round pick and a good roster piece. Carcillo fills a role every team needs, a guy who can handle the fisticuffs as well as play a regular shift. We are excited to move forward with him on our squad."
