To the thousands in attendance and the millions watching around the world, my 3rd overall pick will be up for grabs once trading opens.
I have been approached quite a few times on the subject, and I'm pretty sure I've told everyone the same thing: I won't negotiate until trading opens up and I'm looking for legitimate NHL goaltending in return. I'm looking for a goalie who is projected to have at least 5 years of goaltending ahead of him. Younger goalies will obviously be preferred. Early indication is that there are a few teams who are willing to trade that. The goalie would have to be the cornerstone of the return I'm getting. I'm not really looking to go crazy with a package, that if everything worked it would be slightly better than the 3rd OV I'm giving up.
As the case, I do expect most of the interested GMs to approach me. But I do have 2-3 teams in mind that ideally have what I'm looking for in return, so the shoe is on the other foot and I'll probably reach out to you. Lucky you..
With all of this being said, I will probably look to move the pick within the 3rd and 8th day of trading opening. As I've told everyone who has approached me, I'll hear every option. And then I'll likely announce my decision on ESPN Ocho after the dodgeball finals.
This is just a heads up to those interested to get your offers ready. I'll have my people contact you.

How was this done? I've been on vacation (still am actually, I'll probably be home Monday by the way) so, if you tried contacting me via email, then I won't get it for a couple more days so be patient. This is assuming you liked the offer I gave you a while back ...if you didn't like it, then just disregard lol. Thanks!

I think you're missing something...?
Pick has not been dealt. Or even seriously discussed.

I just thought you already started some preliminary discussions...and being I haven't been home for over a week, I wasn't sure what avenue you "reached out" to people. But I guess you won't be doing that until trading opens? I guess I just misunderstood what you meant.

Nope, I just put it out there officially that the pick will be available. Some "pre-promotion," if you will :). And kind of letting GMs know what to expect to offer me for the pick.
Serious trade negotiations will begin once trading opens. Right now GM's seem to be RSVP'ing that they'd like to talk to me once I'm ready, which isn't necessary because I have a good idea of who is interested already.
