I noticed we have about 40 sim days until the conclusion of the regular season. Doing 6 sims a week equals roughly 7 weeks until the playoffs start. This would be somewhere around May 20th-25th.
I know it's the first time we've used STHS so I thought we should consider a revised sim schedule. As most of you know the NHL playoffs usually conclude between June 6th-12th. So I guess that means we will likely be starting our playoffs when the NHL playoffs are already over.
With the way STHS allows us to set roster changes 10 games in advance, I thought the league may consider an 2 a day sim schedule for the rest of the regular season whereas we would be done in around a month's time.
Another thing to consider for next year is that we actually simmed through the olympic break and are still this far behind.
Anyways, just food for thought..

Well, Management of the Preds doesnt see a problem with this because we are already out of playoff contention and want the season over quickly to work on the summer and changes, however there are some teams in very tight playoff races which im sure they will have other opinions on how the sim should be scheduled.
however put me down as one who wouldnt mind seeing the season end a little bit quicker than its projected.
I don't really care what we do for the rest of this year as I'm just hoping to get a better draft pick.
As for next year there has to be a STHS schedule that mirrors the one of the NHL for that upcoming year? I enjoy fantasy hockey and don't really care if it takes 10 months to complete a season but I'm sure Eric Bryce and some others enjoy the down time in the summer just to get UFA's re-rates the draft together and not have to worry about simming or day to day issues.
With the amount of back to back games that teams play, I think that some would be severely hampered if they were making a cup run. I appreciate having the option of knowing the CD of my players after the next game. I switched out Nabokov for my backup twice this year because Nabokov's CD dropped quicker than I thought, vice versa in a recent three games in three nights, Nabby started all three because his CD remained at 100 when I thought Raycroft would have to come in.
I think that the late season start to the year shouldn't affect how we finish it, switching from FHL to STHS slowed us up, if we manage to get all the GMs paid up before next season, we should have a quicker offseason than last year. I just remember having a lengthy delay between the end of the playoffs, the draft, then UFA then the beginning of the season.
There's no rush nor no need to match up the finalization of the NHL season with the BRHL2 season. It actually helps that ours runs longer. Since our off-season (if we wanted) could be knocked out within a month. But we have plenty of time to kill, so the less down time the better. Which is why we try to evenly space out our off-season calender.

Makes sense, as Tyler mentioned, I was actually thinking more of you and how the longer our season is the more demanding your position is.
Its actually easier when it's more drawn out, for me at least. I don't know if Bryce feels the same way. But I know I can manage and shift certain BRHL2 events in a more drawn out season. Gives me flexibility, even if the off-season is only 3 months, which is about how long it is here (give or take a week or two).
I can tell you one thing that weighs on our decisions is to keep the league active enough throughout the entire calender year. Sure we completely take a few weeks off in the summer and other times, but making sure there's something for everyone involved makes the activity levels, the interest and the overall enjoyement of being in this league much easier / better / and more fun for me to deal with.
I think we do a pretty solid job of that. Not trying to demand much from you guys, but offering things to keep everyone involved on some level.
As far as an accurate NHL schedule, in the current sim it is doable. I'm sure there's a quick excel trick to do it, I'm not sure how. I haven't looked into searching for accurate NHL schedules for the sim on boards, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're out there. IF I had enough volunteers, GMs could help in creating an accurate schedule. The schedule is set in the sim via a .CSV file. Comma Seperated Values which can be edited through Excel. I'm sure I could get a few people to work on a few weeks of a schedule at a time through the correct format the sim uses, copy and paste, and there'd be an accurate copy.
