Loaning Money

So the league rule is that loaning money is not allowed.  A couple scenarios to consider:

Scenario 1:
Team A trades Joe Blow and 4 million to Team B
Team B trades Blow Jow to Team A with future considerations to pay Team A 4 million in the offseason

Essentially, a player swap happened and Team A has loaned Team B 4 million dollars until the offseason

According to the league, this is NOT allowed

Scenario 2:
Team A trades Joe Blow to Team B
Team B give future considerations to Team A to pay them 4 million in the offseason

While not technically a loan, since Team B doesn't have to pay until the offseason, you could argue that they are being loaned that money until then

According to the league, this IS allowed

Personally I find it a bit confusing that one type of loan is allowed and yet another is not.  Either neither should be allowed, or both should be allowed.

Thoughts?

Steve

Also, what is the policy on this hypothetical scenario:

To ATL: Steve Staios
To OTT: 7th round pick + future considerations: OTT gets Martin Hanzal in the offseason

While not technically a loan, this is obviously bad as ATL would get the benefit of having both Staios and Hanzal for their run this season.

This is basicly the exact same thing as trading money as a future consideration to be sent in the offseason.

The more I think about it, the more I think that Future Considerations should only be allowed to be picks as they are the only asset which does not give any benefit for temporary ownership.

good point. I think we've touched on this in the past and Bryce was VERY firm that this was not kosher.

any future considerations have to be approved by the league office. Situations you have listed have occured in the past and are NOT legitimate. ANy loaning of players/cash are reviewed at league level, and if their is something that doesn't sit right, it is declined.

So this is the rule?  If it doesn't "Sit right" it's not allowed?  Shouldn't we nail down some criteria of what is and what isn't allowed?  I'm not a fan of subjectivity with respect to the rules in a pay league.

Well I think what bryce is trying to say is that any loaning of players for cash (or anything for that matter) is something that won't sit right- or will be declined. On the other hand you can't blanket all future consideration as some aren't trying to get around the system.

I can only think future consideration being listed as prospects/draft picks with specific guidelines. Even if you say Team A trades 5 mil for a pick and after winning the cup trading the money back for the pick without league known future considerations, it's still going to happen behind the scenes.
