Thrashers make another move as the team rides a 7 game winning streak

The ever active Thrashers have made another trade in the BRHL2. The team always looking to stay away from future salary cap problems saw the chance to move a player in V.Filppula who we feel will be overpriced for his future slotting in the organization as a 3rd line player.. The team saw a player who has been tearing up the NHL recently and after a hard negociation this was the deal struck between Atlanta and Vancouver.

To Atlanta- G.Latendresse, B.McMillan, Van 5th, 500k
To Vancouver- V.Filppula, Van 3rd

In landing "lats" is something our management has been trying to do since he was locked into the 5 year contract he has right now in the BRHL2 at around 1 mill annually, with him still being RFA at the end of that 5 years.. With this type of contract and the potential we feel Lats has, we think he will provide a huge impact for us at a cheap salary in the future years on our LW.

Brandon McMillan is a prospect we were thrilled to bring in aswell with his play at the WJC for team Canada it showed no matter the competition he still is an elite skater. With the ability to play forward or defense like he has in the WHL he is a interesting prospect we intend to let develop. With him besting previous season totals in WHL points in half the games so far this year we are hopeful the development wont be long with his skating ability.

With the teams current success in the BRHL the G.M was asked by the media, "why do you continue to make trades your squad is playing well!"

The G.M responded, "We always feel like we can improve our franchise, ALWAYS, EVERYDAY!! If everyone else took the same approach maybe they would see the success that you all talk about. We wouldnt call it success until we become the greatest dynasty in BRHL history."

After the current move the Thrashers lineup currently looks like this according to the lines used in practice this morning..

Kovalchuk-Savard-Franzen were skating together
Heatley-Weiss-Hemsky saw alot of time in offensive drills together.

Okposo-Conroy-Bourque stayed as the teams 3rd line.
Latendresse skated with Hanzal and Simmonds on the teams 4th line.

On defense the pairing were switched at practice with the new top pair being Z.Chara and R.Hainsey.

Souray formed a pair with P.Ranger
Smid and Schenn stayed as the third pairing..

In net the undefeated M.Smith was seen bugging Miller that once he gets a chance to be the number one somewhere he will show he is a top end goalie..

Coach J.Stevens was just happy to still be coaching a top end team.
