Tomas Fleischman not given a chance to unpack before he is sent packing

It was hardly worth the time spent by the Canucks staff to stitch FLEISCHMANN's 11 letter name on to a jersey just so he could play one game as a member of the Canucks. Before Tomas could even unpack his shaving gear GM Cadez called him up in his hotel and told him to catch a plane to Philadelphia.

Yes, after only playing one game Fleischmann gets moved to the Flyers for a package of young players, some farm depth and a 7th round pick. Coming back to the Canucks are offensive dman Tom Gilbert, skilled forward Robert Nilsson, veteran Mathieu Dandenault and depth player Clay Wilson.

Why deal Fleischmann only one day after getting him? "Because the assets offered up for him were better aligned for our rebuilding process. Although Fleischmann was showing some signs of possibly becoming a 2nd line forward, we felt the offensive talent of Gilbert and potential of Robert Nilsson was better for the Canucks. Although both are having difficult starts to the season we feel they will turn it around and become future pieces in the Canucks Organization."
