The Silvertips started their draft by selecting a goaltender. The team had Dustin Tokarski at the top of their list but he was taken 3rd OV by Saskatoon. So the Silvertips went with their back-up plan and selected Chet Pickard.
Pickard's greatest asset is his mental game, staying very at ease in the net. He plays a butterfly style and uses his size effectively. Pickard covers the net with efficiency and has become proficient in corralling the many pucks that inevitably come into contact with his upper body. He plays his angles well, likes to play the puck.
Pickard should give the Silvertips at least 1 good season and he is projected to turn pro next season and see time in the AHL.
In the 2nd round the Silvertips selcted Center Joel Broda. "The guys in Everett are giving me the opportunity to go to a good team and make themselves better for the future. To get a chance to play on a team like this is pretty special and I definitely want to take advantage of it." Said Broda Broda brings good size at six feet, 196 pounds, and good hands for putting the puck in the net
The 3rd round saw Everett take Zak Stebner, a Saskatoon-native who is a 6-3, 205-pound defensive defenceman.
In the 4th round the Silvertips went and took forward Drayson Bowman. Bowman is a speedy forward with offensive upside. Drayson looks also to only be with the team for a season but the Silvertips are hoping his experience will rub off on some of the younger players still to be drafted.
The 5th and final pick made Monday was for defenseman Shawn Lalonde. The Tips were very surprised that Lalonde was still available in the 5th round. Lalonde is a mobile defenseman who has the ability to jump into the rush when required. Though he displays good instincts on the ice.
The team is looking over the remaining prospects to decide how they will proceed Tuesday in rounds 6-10.

Everett slected in the 6th round forward Mike Hoffman. And just so everyone is clear, this is not the same Mike Hoffman that is a fourth-line brawler with the Atlanta Thrashers.
Hoffman is expected to help the team by putting pucks in the net, plain and simple.
The 7th round saw the Tips select Center Daulten Leveille. Daulten is a very fast skater and has solid skills and offensive instincts.
The 8th round Everett picked up another foward in Ryan Howse. Howse, who checks in at 5-11 and 185 pounds. He recognizes the challenges the young organization will face, yet he will take it all in stride. The well spoken forward admits he will enjoy the hockey experience in Everett for a number of reasons.
At the start it will be a little hard to get used to it, he said. Its a good thing for me that I am still near B.C., though. Its a privilege for me that my parents and family can come down here and see me play."
The 9th round saw the Tips shore up the defense by selecting Adam Comrie. Comrie was one of the larger blueliners available in this draft. He has an excellent shot, is tough along the boards and in front of his own net, and shows excellent determination.
The final pick of the night in the 10th round saw Everett select a back-up goaltender in Scott Stajcer. Stajcer patterns his game after Roberto Luongo and Steve Mason and his childhood hockey hero was Patrick Roy because he loved to win and had a great passion for the game.
