The front office of the Atlanta Thrashers will take a well-deserved summer holiday after what is being hailed as the end of the team's offseason from hell as they blew things up after a second round exit. The Thrashers were able to add a significant amount of talent to the team while adding to its future.
The Thrashers have added a bunch of players including trading for the rights of a top RFA in David Legwand. Also picking up franchise peices in Johan Franzen and Patrick Berglund to the teams pro roster via trade and also Jamal Mayers via UFA. Franzen and Legwand for their 2nd or 3rd tour of duty in Atlanta.
On defense the team has brought in Brent Seabrook, Christian Ehrhoff, Ladislav Smid on the blueline for the pro roster all in their 2nd tour of duty with the Thrashers. Luke Schenn was the BPA avaible in this draft class and out team was thrilled to add him to our pro roster via the draft.
In goal the team has two new guys. KING HENRIK LUNDQVIST is back in Atlanta after never selling his house last year dreaming of coming back to Atlanta. In a similar situation Mike Smith had bought a condo when a Thrasher and never sold it also dreaming of coming back to the Thrashers someday.
New additions to the minors/prospects list include:
Via trade the team brought in AHLer's. Ty Wishart, Boris Valabik, Casey Borer, Sami Lepisto, Vladimir Sobotka. And UFA signee's Ethan Moreau, Chris Minard and goalie Mike Mckenna
Added to the prospect list via trade: Sergie Korostin, Mike Hoeffel, Blake Geoffrin, Matt Forney, Tony Lagerstrom, and D-Man Mark Mittera.
Draftee's, Colin Wilson, Kyle Beach, Tyler Cuma, Derik Stepan, Cameron Gaunce, Jyri Neimi, Colin Long, Dimtri Kugryshev. These guys headlined a huge draft class that is lead by Luke Schenn.
"Theres also talk of creating more room at the end of the rink by making the nets more shallow, which would be accomplished by encouraging them to spend all their time listening to pop music and reading Twilight books."
