He's a self-serving prick. Putting the NHL under the circumstaces that the team would need to move to Hamilton is a bad move, imo. Moving a Western team out East, would also make more longer trips for the West. Unless they moved Atlanta to the West, since it would be the Western most Eastern Conference team.

He's trying to bully the NHL into a position where they concede to his demands. Last time I checked, most other NHL franchises were not purchased under those circumstances.

I think there is good reason why he's been shutout in his previous two bids.

Wow the Thrashers are the most western team in the Eastern Conference lol... well all i have to say.. is i consider a city like detroit in the east side of the country and if they give a team to hamilton its just way too many teams on the east side...

look at dallas they have to play in the pacific divsion and they are in central south part of united states..

Question now though is... which city besides Hamilton can actually want or hold a franchise.

BRING BACK THE SCOUTS...this way we all win...the Yotes stay in the West and balsille won't want the team...

...I still don't see why you'd move a team to Canada for no Team above the border has won a Stanley Cup since 93?

The team is bankrupt. Let him take them to Hamilton. Anyone catch his candid interview the other day?

He said: The board of governors is 100% American, 12/12. The game is supported, played by, and would be non-existent without Canadians and yet Canada is not allowed to have a 7th team?

This isn't a matter of the NHL saying, 'we don't like ballsillie". It's a matter of them saying we don't want another Canadian franchise because we need to be present in the American city's economies.

It's not about winning a cup. That's not why you move a team, you move it to get support. The Maple leafs outsell the Detroit Red Wings every year in the regular season yet are bush leaguers who suck at managing, and coaching.

The Wild have never won a cup, but still have one of the best fan bases in all of the NHL. It's because they have great support. I can't understand why Canada wouldn't have at least 10 NHL clubs in all honesty. The US may have the population base but lets be honest, most don't give a rip about hockey. I came from Seattle and I'm telling you hockey was completely irrelevant to me. Why would I care about a sport that gets 1% of sportscenter, 1% of the news papers, and i could cheer for the MLB and NFL?

In Canada it's about the love of the game, a team can be supported through 5 seasons of playoffless hockey with MORE attendance than other NHL American contenders. Whereas in the states that creates the PHX Coyotes- Bankruptcy.

understood...but it still does not justify 0 cups since 93

I said it when this whole thing started Bettman will not let Ballsillie win and the Coyotes will be in Hartford Kansas City or Winnipeg when this is all said and done.  Hopefully this some how spells the end of Bettman though.

Here here with what Luke has to say !

I could not agree more with his statements!

What does the amount of cups won since 93 have to do with this anyhow ?

Don't recall Americans winning to many cups back in the 60's and 70's....so what !

I would like to see more Canadian teams as well,  Victoria, Regina, almost anywhere in Ontario ( London, Hamilton, ) Quebec City or the Maritimes but I am also a fan of pushing our great game in the states.

IMO there is no such thing as a non hockey state. Games need to be viewed and taught. Traditions need to be built.
Phoenix needs some time to flourish, for people to give a damn, then a decision can be made if a team still struggles after doing well, like a Tampa Bay for instance.

Americans like winners ! Winners make fans ! Fans make success ! Success makes tradition, and tradition takes time !

Phoenix is not the team to move, Phoenix just needs deep pockets and time.

Hamilton should get their team though. Just not Phoenix at this time.
