Penalty for playing a plery out of position?

What was the rating hit again for playing a player out of position? If you were not able to find a source to have a player play on the wing and he was a C but you played him at the w on the 3rd or 4th line anyways?

Thanks

There is no known sim penalty, but its believed to be about 10% accross the board. So in almost any case it is best to play them in proper positions.

I know it says it is frowned upon by the league, but still legal, but next year that is going to change, it will NOT be permitted.

I don't see why that ruling would be considered a league criteria. Playing a player in a different position already has its penalty. And the penalty seems fair.
If we are being NHL based then playing a player out of position should not even be a factor or a consideration. Let's stick with rules that matter. This one is just looking for rules to nit pik at.    no

for this year yes, but the sim penalties in STHS, I am unaware of, if I can't find something out, then it would only make sense to try and make it hard and fast.

I tend to agree with Rod. Even if STHS doesn't have a penalty for it as long as it's not RW going to D or vise versa ect.

If what we've been trying to do is eco the NHL, should we be realistic in that if you had Malkin, Thornton and Crosby on one team, likely Malkin would move to Wing in the NHL ( I know this because he did on pittsburgh). For this reason Malkin is listed as C/W because he HAS played both because of his NHL situation.

If his situation was different say he played on NYI he would ONLY be listed as C and would only play centre. Thus his eligibility would only be centre.

What I'm saying is what if your team drafts 3 good Centres, Vinny lecav, Jon Toews, and Joe Thornton. Do you really thing if that was an NHL roster one of them wouldn't move to wing? Of course they would.

I'm a firm believer that any NHL Centre can play wing. Now I'm not sure if any winger can play Centre effectively but I think it's something the league needs to look at. It seems like I'm taking a logic approach to it and I know Bryce has admitted many of these things in the past but just wondering what he and the rest of the league thinks.

Oh and another example that came to mind is the Olympics. I've seen full lines of Centres playing together, the reason being is the talent is there and so they just shift them because they can easily play there. I counted 6 from last year's World championship team that would ONLY show up on Tsn or hockeydb as C.
