Boston, Colorado, Nashville, Chicago and now St Louis are the only teams to beat the almost unstoppable Buffalo Sabres. However, playing their 4th game in 5 nights, the Blues were thankful that they had a day's rest before catching the Sabres playing their third game in a row.
Although the Sabres lead the league by 18 points, they were thoroughly outplayed by the underdog Blues. Despite taking the only penalties in the period, the Blues outshot the Sabres 17-6. Unlike their previous games, they were able to show a 2-0 lead after the period ended. Ryan Malone's 15th and 16th of the season gave the Blues the lead within 10 minutes. It was more of the same during the second, after Pothier scored his 1st as a St Louis Blue just over a minute in began another period dominated by the Blues. Although Jarome Iginla scored his 37th of the year on one of four shots in the period, the Sabres had to depend heavily upon their star goalie Martin Brodeur to keep them in the game. Despite a shellacking by the Buffalo coach, the Sabres remained lackluster and the Blues finished off the game with Satan's 8th of the year with a minute left.
GAME NOTES Evgeni Nabokov made 17 saves for the win, bringing his personal record up to .500. The Blues fielded a healthy lineup for consecutive games for the first time in 29 games.
