Capitals trade Ribeiro for Booth

The Capitals announced that they traded top line right winger Mike Ribeiro along with a late round draft pick to the Minnesota Wild for young forward David Booth and ****-tastic winger Kyle Calder.

Ribeiro was having a tough season on one of the worst teams in BRHL2 so management decided to give him a chance at the playoffs and Cup glory with a new team.  Booth joins the team as a left winger, but is expected to be behind Pavol Demitra and Fredrik Modin for at least the next few games as he learns the system (if the Caps have one).  Although he was having a great season for Minny, the Caps are expecting less production but the trade is for the future not for now.

Also, at only $450,000 next season - the Capitals are delighted to have a contract like that with players like Stastny, Wisniewski and Barker likely expecting big raises.

Calder is not really expected to play with the team, but more of a "wow don't be bad or you might end up like that" sort of player. The former player who filled that role was Dan Cloutier.
