In a major move down in Atlanta the Thrashers have moved Pavel Kubina, along with a 1st-3rd-5th rounder to Ottawa in return for Kevin Bieska-Ryan Kesler- Alex Edler-550k
The Thrashers management is very excited about this deal as they drop about 800k in salary while picking up two extra pro players.. Giving up a top pick like that is tough but to get the combo of players we did we felt we had to move on the deal.
These three NHL Canucks are main parts of their future in vancouver add in loungo and you have the 4 main peices of the Canucks future.. (sedins-ohland are in need of new contracts).
Ryan Kesler- Future selke winner who will pop 20 goals and 35 assists is a nice combination. Rumours have Thrasher brass looking to use one of the teams two 4 yr contract extensions on him, at under 2 mill a year, so they could then resign him for another 5 yrs after his first 4 yr deal expires.. The team is excited about having the combination of Kesler-Pahlsson to lead their PK units for at least 5 years.
Kevin Bieska- Landing a #1 NHL d-man is a nice addition to the team. His Longterm 4 yr cheap 3.1 million BRHL2 deal is also a big part of Kevin's value. With his great two way game and also a toughness to be a game changer with his hits and fights he brings alot to the table his 25 pts NHL and only ONE PIM per game should have Kevin in for a great rerate.
Alex Edler- This was the key to the deal to our team, we feel Alex is going to develop into a great NHL D-man and be paired on the top pairing with Bieska for a very long time in Vancouver.. Edler has good size-strength-puck handlind- and first pass ability.. he has shown great great development so far and i think it will only continue..
It will hurt if that pick ends up being stamkos but i got to pick up two pro players and drop 800k so i am happy.. as i know rob is too because the worst case on the nashville 1st is his boy hodgson..
