The rebuild continues in Ottawa!

Ottawa-- It has been no secret that the Senators were in the middle of a rebuild, even as they slowly started to turn there season around after a very slow start, but the player that was leading the charge Chris Mason was dealt today in a 6 player trade that included a bit of cash and a pick.

Mason is heading to Bean town with veteran leader Trevor Linden $750,000 and a 6th round pick, while David Backes, Ray Emery, Robert Scuderi, and prospect Stefan Legein are on their way to Ottawa.

"Even though he has been playing very well lately, we still have to realize that our focus remains on the future," said the Sens GM, "moving Mason at this point is the right move to make and getting a good young forward in Backes back and a solid prospect in Legein will certainly help in our rebuild."

The future of both Emery and Legein are certainly a bit cloudy to say the least but that didn't seem to concern GM Rob Botham too much.

"We knew when we had Ray (Emery) last year that the possibility of him playing over seas for a season or two was there, and it is my understanding that he is still exploring that option, but we feel he still has a future in the BRHL 2, as for Legein we know that he had taken some time off to deal with personal issues and to decide where his future was but I have been informed that he has returned to his AHL team and that he is looking to get back on the right tracks."

It is believed that Ottawa is still looking to make moves with rumours that players such as Morris, Mitchell, Vandermeer, Skoula, and even possibly Kesler.
