After getting to see most of the kids that we get to draft next year the majority of the list are at NHL level the other most of us just saw at the WJC, as some of us dont watch much junior hockey outside internation competitiion's.. looking into the class we can pick from strictly of guys picked from Stamkos-Doughty class what would your top ten be.
Atlanta- Holding 1-3-6 picks before Eric late sim tonight before this list started..
1) Schenn- When at CHL All-Star game in E-Town he was best player on the ice. He has played very well for Leafs aswell NHL.
2) Doughty- Has been very impressive in NHL. Rocket shot with very impressive top end speed.
3) Stamkos- Having proven what he did in junior and who he is set up to play with longterm he is going to be a 40-40 guy imo forsure...
4) Zach Bogosian- Will be a beast once he develop's in Atlanta, has similar package to Doughty but less top end, and a lil more grinder mentality on blueline..
5) Michael Boedker. Playing very very well in phoenix..
6) Jordan Eberle- Pure sniper in everyway, has a knack for being in scoring spots when puck bounce's his way- (will look ideal with hemsky longterm NHL EDM)
7) Luca Sbisa- Kid is a premier young d-man in our opinion his first pass and also stride are very strong assets he has, he is similar and will learn alot from kimmo timmonen for Flyers NHL
8) Nikita Filatov- Very good young Russian sniper..
9) Josh Bailey- Have liked what ive seen in games of him so far NHL as I'm keeping close tabs on Okposo's development in NYI.
10) Cody Hodson- Clutch young kid, has future captain written all over him. (once Van-Franciscogets a real captain)
As our BRHL year is young and we have along time until our draft i think this could be good thread as everyone knows these are the top end young guys,, please add ur top 10 as of now.. its pretty obvious everyones will have moved when we do get to picking in mid august..
i think that the upside of stamkos will make him 1st overall... even though his first season with the lightning hasn't been the best, once the situation in tampa settles down and they get a good coach you'll see stamkos put up big numbers...
agree that doughty will be at #2, been impressive with a largely unimpressive kings team...
not too sure that anyone might take a risk on bogosian at #4 with a even worse atlanta team... sure he will get into the team quickly, but won't be anything good until atlanta either gets a decent team or moves so free agents actually want to go there...
with eberle's performance in the world juniors (clutch goal against the russians) i would think he'll be highly rated in the draft, maybe higher than 6th...
filatov is a toss up, i think with his willingness to play in the nhl, not the khl, will make him a high pick... but he's still a russian, not sure where people will peg him....
hodgson was canada's best player in the world juniors and was a steal for the nucks at #10, he'll go higher here....
sbisa shouldn't be in the top ten, with pietrangelo taking his place....
if we're basing it off nhl production, wouldn't you want doughty over schenn? more ice time, more points, more PP time therefore, better ratings overall...
schenn will never win a cup with the leafs... sort of like hemsky with the oilers :P although i hope toronto never makes it to the final....
I have to agree with Kirk on the Schenn assertion. I think Long term this kid will be a complete package- lots of people only view him as defensive but he's also very good on the PP and has a cannon from the point.
I can't think of anything else I'd want in a Dman. He's Big, skates very well, hits, is nasty, great hands, textbook defensively (hence the human eraser name), and has a bomb from the point, also best first pass in the draft.

I also think Doughty is filthy but it's hard to say at 19 years old who will get more Ice time. If you look at the fact that McCabe was logging like 30 minutes a game some games (or at least it felt like it) I think Schenn has the potential to be used quite a lot in the future.

I don't know, but perhaps Kirk's use of the word will give it some context:

#16) P.Kane- Filthy young hockey player, has vision and the pure skill to think and play a couple seconds ahead of everyone thats why his size is zero issue. crosby is strong kid. Kane has zero strength but doesnt need it except to develop more snipe which will come leaving ur teaanage years.. PP.. #27) N.Backstrom (wsh)- gets to play with that #1 guy and is pretty filthy himself. #30) S.Gagner- filthy vision, if speed and snipe come will move into everyone top 15...
