The Edmonton Oilers are the early suprise team on the short BRHL2 2008-09 season. Comming out of the gate hard the Oilers are 4-0 to start the season and they have been liften by some unexpected players. While the decision to hold onto Marty Biron looks like a genius move by team manager James Love, it is players like Bret Sterling, David Steckel, Glen Metropolit and Andre Zyuzin and their extra effort that has the entire northern Alberta city buzzing about their team.
Steckel is tied for the team lead in points with 5 in 4 games as well as a +3 rating. Line mate Glen Metropolit has 3 points and a +3 rating as well. Rookie winger Bret Sterling has been a nice suprise as well with 3 points in 4 games and a +2 rating. Andre Zyuzin has led the attack from the point as he has 2 goals and 4 points in his 4 games as well.
"I think it shows the rest of the league that our players are better than the credit they get. I think our team is to be taken seriously. And I think we still have a lot of improvement to do as a team". -- GM James Love.
