Nashville got off to a great start to the BRHL2 season with a victory in front of a sellout crowd of 18,000 by the final score of 6-5.

The first period saw the Preds top line take off in flight as they were playing tricks all over the devils.

Michael Nylander would open up the scoring this season for Nashville being set up by a nifty pass at the point from Kronvall at 4:08 but soon after the Devils had a good response as Gary Roberts who you will here from later...  scored not 1 but 2 goals in a row to give the lead back to the dark side. 
Before the first period would end.. the Preds would see perhaps a new goal scorer emerge as Vrbata nets 2 goals and Fernando Pisani add a goal inbetween to give the edge back to the Preds in a big way with a 4-2 lead.

With 20 minutes gone the dressing room was upbeat and they were ready to take the ice for the 2nd however a bad penalty by Naslund put the Devils on the PP very early and Peter Forsberg made them pay for that silly mistake with a goal from guess who Gary Roberts..  

Roberts was all over the ice this game and well he came back into play but for all the wrong negative reasons.....  Roberts took a silly and vicious elbow to Craig Conroy and after conroy took exception and matter into his own hands... the scoreboard would show a 5 minute major for elbowing thus giving Nashville a chance to restore that 2 goal lead and that they did Mr. Radim Vrbata nets his hattrick in the first game of the season and after 2 periods the score was 5-3.

Proving not to be on the ball so far ... Vesa Toskala showed in the 3rd period why he is the number 1 goalie... After New jersey made the game back to within a goal.... the Preds would have to stand on their head especially their goalie because penalty after stupid penalty were taken which furiated the head coach and GM... Dupuis, Nylander, Conroy, would all take bad minors and after that fury was all done.. it was Nashville who would score on their only PP of the 3rd period with Craig Conroy and bertuzzi hooking up for a goal. The devils would once again come a goal down with a goal by Patrick Marleau and shortly after that Gerber entered the game but the final buzzer sounded giving them an emotional victory.

Vrbata would own the first star with his hatrick, Roberts and Forsberg would end up being 2nd and 3rd respectivley.

Jay Mckee did leave the game near the end of the first period with an undisclosed injury..  Nashville can get on the plane to finish the celebration cause it will be short lived when they enter pennsylvania to play the Flyers in their first road game of the season..
