Jovo Cop decide to join Thrashers.

Atlanta Lands One Of Big UFA Players For 2 Year Deal

Starting off the press conference, G.M Shuck had this to say about the UFA addition the team made, "Going into ufa landing a d-man was the last of our organizations plans, but with the forward market going out of control and guys like Saku getting over 10 mill per year and Shanahan's getting 8 mill we decided we were going to be better off using our cap dollars on someone who could play top two line minutes and also contribute on the PP. Landing Ed and his wicked skill set 76 IT- 85 SP- 75 ST- 82 SK- 72 PA- 79pc, to go along with his great leadership and experience we feel adding Ed for only 700k more than he would have recieved on a RFA calculated offer if his contract would have been done that way.. 2 years at 7 million is a price we felt ok paying for one of the better offensive d-men in the BRHL2.. We are likely going to play 7 d-men most of the season now with Jovo's arrivival, wit defensive specialist like Chara-Staios-Zanon-Ranger-Zubov all having 80+ DF we feel can cover for the lack of defense from Ed.."

After having an extended period of time to make a decision on where to play next year because he had to sit out the end of last season as a cap casualty..

At his press conference in Atlanta the JOVO COP had this to say, "With having alot of time to think about the decision I decided to come to Atlanta as this is a team right close to the cup and with the players they have here I think i should be able to produce amzing numbers in a PP role."

The first question the press hit him with was, "We have it from good sources your allready being shopped as a trade asset do you know this???"

Ed took in stride saying, "One thing Shuck made very clear is that their are only 5 assets that are untouchable in Atlanta, and he was honest when he told me i WASNT one of them. I signed here knowing this and believe once the games start and if I get a fair shot my skills will shine and I will be a guy the team really likes."

He's already shopping Jovo, he'll take the fine, actually wait he will try and get the cash to cover the fine from who ever he trades with so he doesn't have to pay the fine!

You can bet on that. I'm pretty sure he started to feel the heat of his bid 24 hours after posting 7 million. THeres a fine line between a player you signing being an asset and a liability between what amount they sign at, I think at 7 for 2 years jovo crossed it.
