Today the Edmonton Oilers continued their team re-building as they aquired scoring winger Martin Havlat from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for prospect Lars Eller and center Kyle Wellwood.
"We'll we have been shopping Wellwood for a few weeks, with Savard and Jokinen on the scoring lines we didn't really have a spot for Kyle. Lars we wanted to keep, we think he's going to be a hell of a player but we had a chance to aquire a very good scoring winger in Havlat who we feel is only entering the prime of his career. His contract status suited what we were looking for and if he can stay healthy we think Marty can turn into one of the elite scoring wingers in the entire league." Commented GM Love on his latest blockbuster deal.
So far in two seperate deals the Oilers roster has seen a major overhaul. Out are Ilya Kovalchuk, Kyle Wellwood and Lars Eller who was selected with a pick aquired in the Kovalchuk trade and in are Olli Jokinen, Johan Franzen, Martin Havlat and Patrick Berglund.
