Age Calculation

How do we calculate a player's in the BRHL2?

For 2008-09, in the BRHL, it is their age before September 1, 2008 minus 1 (because we are one year behind).

As an example:

Matt Stajan
D.O.B. = Dec. 19,1983
Age before Sep. 1, 2008 = 24
24 - 1 = 23

In BRHL2, howeber he is listed as 24, so I am wondering if we are using a different formula.

Thanks in advance for your replies...

there are errors with ages as i've come across a couple, i.e. Latendresse is 27 years old... those will be fixed, but i don't know what formula the league uses, chances are it's similar to BRHL1

Whatever we are using, there are some mistakes on my team:

If we are using the same formula as the BRHL (Aug. 31 / Sept. 1 cutoff), the following ages are incorrect on Anaheim:

Mark Smith (listed as 30, should be 29) DOB 24-Oct-1977
Keith Aucoin (listed as 29, should be 28) DOB 06-Nov-1978
Scottie Upshall (listed as 24, should be 23) DOB 07-Oct-1983
Matt Stajan (listed as 24, should be 23) DOB 19-Dec-1983
Matt Lashoff (listed as 21, should be 20) DOB 29-Sep-1986
Pascal LeClaire (listed as 25, should be 24) DOB 07-Nov-1982
Justin Pogge (listed as 22, should be 21) DOB 22-Apr-1986

However, if we are using a Dec. 31 / Jan. 1 cutoff, the following ages are incorrect on Anaheim:

Justin Pogge (listed as 22, should be 21) DOB 22-Apr-1986
Tobias Enstrom (listed as 22, should be 23) DOB 05-Nov-1984
Lukas Kaspar (listed as 21, should be 22) DOB 23-Sep-1985
Nick Foligno (listed as 19, should be 20) DOB 31-Oct-1987
Michael Grabner (listed as 19, should be 20) DOB 05-Oct-1987

im pretty sure we would have to go offf what we had last yr no? with people signing guys to longeterm deals that end with the team stilll getting another RFA offer to them if we start switching ages then i would take things way out of whack....

arent we just addding 1 yr to everyone from last yrs roster?

When working with the rates I took last year's ages and just advanced them 1 year... rookies might need correcting, but the rest should be right.

If an age is wrong it needs to be corrected...

It should be up to each individual GM to ensure that their players are listed with the correct age (which I am now in the process of doing).  I am not going to be penalized because the player's age was entered incorrectly...

Ages should not be changed for guys who's RFA/UFA status (under current contract) will be affected by the age change.

agree with steve signings were made in rfa on it.. like as example if zherdev were yr older he would now enter ufa at end of deal and not rfa HUGE dif... i think they have to be whats used off last yrs.. then prospects and all created guys get correct age put in when created allready dont they??

The incorrect ages for the guys I listed have no bearing on their contracts.  Notwithstanding that I think we should make sure that all ages are correct...

Bryce... Eric... Can you chime in here?
