Detroit had 9 picks this draft, most of them late. This is uncharter water for GM MacDonald, as he usually trades away all of his picks. Lets see who he got.
Ana 1st: Patrick Kane RW Nuff Said
Chi 2nd: Keven Villeux C 6.5C Pittsburgh Could be a dominate force in the QMJHL, but there were some consistancy issues. Signed to ELC contract, and will likely spend the year in the AHL
Edm 6th: John Albert C 7.0C Thrashers After 2 seasons in the US Nat'l development program, he has began is career at Ohio State with 15 points in 22 games. Had a great prospect camp in Atlanta this year
Det 6th: Max Campbell C 7.0D Rangers A highly skilled player with good hockey sense and a nose for the net, Cambell has a lot of upside. Campbell has high end puck skills and the potential to become a second line forward. Rangers will give him time in the NCAA to develop his game.
Ana 7th: Kyle Lawson D 7.0C Carolina Offensive Defenseman and a little undersized, but had a great season at Notre Dame.
LA 7th: Brock Bradford C 6.5C Bruins Great college player. Would have been a higher pick, but he missed his entire Junior season with a broken arm. He is returning for his senior season as the team's captian, and with something to prove. Plus, this pick really pissed Bryce off
Car 7th: Ben Lovejoy D 7.0D Pittsburgh Solid 2 way defenseman. Undrafted Free agent who led Wilkes Barre in plus/minus last season, and earned an ELC from the Penguins for it.
MTL 7th: Josh Tordjman G 6.5C Pheonix Projected as a mediocre ECHL goalie, Tordjman impressed everyone with a greay year in the AHL. 2.58 and .920 numbers in the regular season were nothing compared to his disgusting 1.85 goals-against average and .941 save percentage in the AHL playoffs.
Cal 7th: Steven Dixon 6.0C Anaheim Looking for a fresh start with the Ducks after being buried on the depth chart in Pittsburgh. He is a former QMJHL standout, but projects as a solid 2 way player. Will be a solid depth guy, with 3rd line potential.
There you go. Please post comments below.
