BRHL2 Draft

Coudn't remember, but what happens with undrafted players in the NHL who were eligible to be drafted in the 07 NHL draft?
Also, what happens to FA's like Brunnstrom?

If I remember correctly for a player to be eligable for the draft his rights have to belong to an NHL team (ie needs to have a contract) so Brunnstrom would be available since he signed an NHL contract while an undrafted player would not be since they have no contract and don't belong to an NHL team.

I thought this was up for change this year so that the rule would be if a player is eligible by age then he's eligible for selection regardless of an NHL team taking him. If we're able to identify talent that the NHL hasn't identified yet or they identified a year later we should be able to. Its just good scouting.

I 100% agree with Luke.
GM's in the BRHL2 are already getting a huge advantage of having the draft a year after the NHL draft. In my opinion, this is a disadvantage to the GM's who actually do their homework.
If undrafted, age eligible players are put into the draft, it should allow deserving GM's to benefit

I'm sorry, but I disagree guys. There is still a fair amount of homework that has to be done drafting a year after the NHL guys do.

I think it should stay as is. We all love hockey, but a lot of us don't live near Junior Teams, or really follow any prospects til they get drafted. Doesn't mean we aren't dedicated GMs or hockey nutz, but it would put regular GMs at a disadvantage.

We all don't have hot-lines to Mr. Sutter.

No. That was when the loophole was realized and closed. Similar to your double shifting Chara.

Just post your opinion on the actual subject on hand, Kirk. Would be nice to hear what more guys thought about it. Ian brings up a good point too, but this is a pay league after all...

agree with Ian and steve... the league is set up to be 1 year behind the NHLs for a reason...

and this is one of those reasons...

would be kinda stupid to change now...

As someone who would have a huge advantage over some GMs, I also agree that until a player is NHL property, we shouldn't draft him.
