"Depth." That was the key word in the Hawk dressing room at the beginning of the series against the San Jose Sharks. "If your team is too deep to have Sturm, Vermette and Dumont in your top six, then you have some definite firepower." started GM Bachul.
"They have a young powerhouse team that should be fighting for the cup for years. But their whole core is under 25. There is some experience required to go far...but as these guys gain experience, they are going to be tough to beat."
Captain Joe Thornton agreed. "This wasn't a one sided series. You knew they weren't going to budge an inch and have a great franchise. We had a little more depth and a little more experience. That was our edge. But they will win their share....it is just a matter of time."
Now the Hawks look forward to their next opponent, either the surprising Bluejackets or the high flying Red Wings.
"Doesn't matter to us..."started Vincent Lecavalier. "Whoever we play, we have to be at our best. Just ask the favourites who have played Columbus so far."
