May 13th

I would've just put Tuesday's sim as the subject, but didn't want to confuse anyone about May 6's sim.

There will be no sim on Tuesday May 13th. A week from now.  I will be getting insulted and having beer thrown at me at Game 3 of the Eastern Finals in Philly.

Right now, I'm expected to only miss that Tuesday sim. If something changes, due to travel, I will do my best to give a fair amount of warning (at least 24 hrs).

Thanks.

Last I heard, he was still alive at the end of the game.

But, it's a long walk thru the parking lot......

I'm back and alive. No problems with the Flyer fans except for one twarp who attempted to knock my hat off while making my way to the seats. I'll take the 4-1 if it means going through that anyday.

I heard on the radio yesterday flyer fans are the worst in the league for harassing opposing team's fans. Even though I'm thoroughly disappointed in the lack of close series' I'm happy to see what looks to be a pitt Det final.

That is very true.  I saw them just work over a couple of NJ fans when I was there.(18000 people chanting A.sshole, A.sshole)  It was unreal.

From what I've seen, read and heard about the fans in the NHL, yes the Flyers are certainly near the top. Which goes back a long way from the Broad Street Bullies days, which is the fans' typical identification with the team. That they're more about bruising and physicality than playing hockey. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

I knew what to expect going into the game. I've been to games in which I'm thoroughly supporting the away team. Going to Cleveland a few years ago for a 44-0 Steelers win was a nice stepping stone to the Flyers game last night. I still think there could be worse venues to be a visitor. The Black Hole in Oakland would probably be the tops at my list, followed by anywhere in Philly, Giants Stadium, and probably a few others that aren't coming to mind right now.

It's not easy to go through, but I've been lucky. It also probably helps that I'm not an arrogant, obnoxious fan who's getting drunk while trying to challenge everyone there to a fight.

On a side note the funniest thing I heard last night was from a Flyer fan who commented out loud: "Ruutu, you piece of ****. You're a disgrace to the game."  While he was wearing a Steve Downie shirt.

i usually decide on how much i like fans/arena life based on how they do the national anthems in the arena... i'm usually pretty disgusted with most of the american versions of the Canadian anthem, at least we attempt to do a decent version, they're fine with a bland one...

by far the worst ever anthem song was actually the american national anthem in tampa bay... i think they took over 3 minutes to sing it with the special effects of fireworks... once the game got underway the players could hardly see one another with the fog on the ice...

as such, i dislike pretty much any american arena... however, i remember how the americans were disgusted when montreal booed the american national anthem, yet when new york islanders, colorado avalanche among others (most recently in this year's playoffs by philly)... that's the lowest you can go in my opinion....

Thats one of the funniest things I've ever heard.  I guess ignorance is bliss.
