MVP

Looks to me that MVP is a two horse race.

Vinny and Marty.

A quick shout out to Buffalo that has had a great year. Cheers.

Thanks George- You too.

Vinny sure pulled away at the end from the forwards. Congrats on your 3% or whatever it is.

I think it'll be close, all depends on who they think if you take them off each of our rosters, who would have seen the more substantial decrease.

Dmen get no love for MVP.

Pronger is averaging a ppg, nearly 3 hits per game, 24 minutes a night for one of the best teams in the league. To me, he has been every bit as impressive as Vinny.

Pronger may not even get the Norris let alone MVP.  Visnovsky with his massive point total and stellar +/- will give him a run for his money.

be serious george... take pronger off the wings and they are a fringe playoff team... take visnovsky off of you and you'd be absolutely fine...

i agree with Rich that Pronger is the real MVP if you are discussing how much they mean to their respective clubs...

I dunno, visnovsky's numbers are convincing. WHen I looked at the norris race, I almost conceded to vis based on pure stats.

True- I was impressed with vis's +/- and goals, but yeah Pronger does make a convincing arguement with 4 less games.

damn, I was going to post on here to start campaigning for my players for the awards...but it looks like others are doing it for me :)

Pronger should get serious Norris consideration. I'd love for him to get some Hart votes, but that would probably be a stretch.

Fleury did everything he could to make it a 2 horse Vezna race. He struggled a little at the end of the season, winning a few games but giving up 4 or 5 goals, which inflated his numbers. He's still right behind Brodure in Wins and Star Points.

And, as for the comment that my team would be a fringe team without CFP, I do take a little offense to that. I'd like to think that I built a solid team, top to bottom. No glaring holes, no defensive liabilities, no problems. I'd hope that even if CFP was replaced with a 74-76OV defenseman that the team would have still competed for the division. Guys who only played part time on the 4th line have double didget points. Pronger's point per game average was nice, but I got 3 other defensemen with over 30 points. I also have noone on my team with a negative +/-

You should try that experiment out next season, trade pronger to me and see how it goes :)

I don't believe taking a point a game defenseman with a +47, 20 goals, out of a guy's lineup wouldn't hurt.

But for Norris....

Number one in goals.
Number two in points.
Number one in +/-.
One game lost to injury.
Third in assists.

The Norris isn't the defenseman judged most valuable to his team....it is the defenseman with the best overall season. Both offensively and defensively. The numbers support Visnovsky being the best dman this season.

If you think +/- defines defensive play. To me, Pronger's 24+ mpg and 200+ hits to go along with a +/- that is still in the 20s is more impressive.

I do agree that Visnovsky has had a great season, and I would easily put him 2nd, but I think the +/- is boosted by the sick lineup he plays with.
