Ottawa- While no one expected Legwand to be traded after just being acquired from Chicago, that is exactly what happened today as the big center was sent to the Flyers in a surprising trade.
Going to Philly with Legwand is Corey Sarich, and some cash while heading back to the Sens is Brad Boyes, UFA Radek Bonk (who is rumoured to already be on the trading block), defensive center Marty Reasoner and prospects Danny Syvert and Nathan Perkovich.
"I never expected to trade David, and I figured who would be centering our second line next season, but several GM's were very interested in him, and when Brad Boyes became available it certainly grabbed our attention," said the Sens GM, "Brad has the makings of becoming one of the top goal scorers in the league and is still very young so we expect him to become one of our building blocks going into next season."
The secondary players in this trade certainly can't be ignored either as Sarich should become a solid defenseman for the Flyers next year and will give them some depth for there cup run this year.
While the Sens are hoping Bonk can bring in another draft pick and Reasoner should be a solid 4th liner for the Sens next year in a defensive role and while neither Syvret nor Perkovich will help the Sens in the next few seasons, both have promise and should be BRHL players in the future.

by being able to turn trever lewis and niklas bergfors into zherdev, then zherdev into boyes, then boyes into legwand in 1 season is pretty amazing IMO...
anyways this allows me to move on one of kaberle, whitney, and mccabe for another top 9 forward and then my roster will be set for a competitive challenge to buffalo and atlanta in this season, and especially when my team is built for next year....
