Since his arrival in atlanta its be widely known sean avery wasnt happy with his third line role after playing 2nd line on a solid phoenix team at the time. since coming to atlanta avery has been stictly a 3rd line and 2nd unit pk guy.. NYR management has been after avery for a long long time and a deal was finally struck sending the winger to the big apple. along with avery was a carolina 3rd and 4 million cash. coming into atlanta is pesky third line grinder (avery's old job- but 900k cheaper) and a capable 5-6-7 d-man in lukas krajicek who at 700k is a guy who the team can afford to healthy scratch depending on the teams matchup that night.
the team is hoping cooke-krajicek and newly aquired doan can all get their first wins as thrashers tonight in a game against the lowly penguins.
Sean Avery quickly was celebrated in his new home after he helped the Rangers who were 0-2-4 in thier last 6 games overcome Colorado and hand them a 3-2 loss.
The Avery era in New York began last night and we're looking to build on this win. The win also marks goaltender Mike Smith's first start in New York and his first win as well. Must be the chemistry........................ we'll have to see.
