I'm toying with the idea of POSSIBLY trading Alfredsson he has great attributes for this year and is on pace for 50 goals and should receive a positive rerate as well for next season. While he only has 2yrs left on his contract he could easily be tagged and for a third.
I would need a RW or C back that can play on my first line and an upgrade some where else. I have no interest in rebuilding so I won't trade him for just picks and prospects. As I said this is not a gurantee I will move him so don't expect me to jump at the first offer and unless I can improve my team I am more then willing to hang onto him for another few seasons, I just thought I would test the waters.
E-mail and private message is probably the best way to reach me over the next few days as I'm usually not on ICQ very much during the weekend, but if something catches my eye I can make time to get online to talk.
Don't expect to get Alfredsson with out giving up a top 6 forward in return that can still help me this year!

The guy is top 5 in the league for points and goals, and I only got two offers (and only one was close to working) I'm shocked I thought there would be a bit more interest in him then that.

I think when looking at big players, the contenders already have their money allocated. For example, we figured even with his bad year....Marleau will be resigned as an RFA, so he is going to be on someone's team for at least 7 years. The interest was OK, but not as much as we thought.
No one is going to bite and add $4 million plus as a contender, and those are the guys that are your market. Most contenders already have their high priced talent.
We would love Alfie, but it would be an impossibility for us to find a way to make that work...hence...zero interest from us. (Unless you see something...email us.)
Well I think there are a few contenders which could sacrifice 2 player that equal 4 million and the money isn't really as big of a deal. Alfy and the goaltending are the main reasons for Ottawa's success, I think someone might realize that and make a substantial offer.
I think the difference between alfy and marleau is, well..a projected 71 points by season's end (alfy with 111, marleau with 40)

But as a league that continues in perpetuity, Marleau has 7 years of value vs. 2 of a UFA(sans tag.). Not saying there wouldn't be more interest in Alfie than Marleau....sure there might for someone that intends to win within two seasons. (That being said, you would have to expect Marleau to go back to his point per game plus ways...)
I don't disagree about the offer part....we would in a heartbeat...I just don't see it.
