The Boston Bruins completed a trade today that sees the team deal a bit of future, for the present.
Coming to Boston are wingers Peter Schaefer and Sami Kapanen to help bolster the clubs forward depth. The come along with the Pens 3rd and 5th round picks in the upcoming entry draft.
Leaving the Bruins organization are Chad Kilger, Peterri Wirtanen, Jay Barribal, Jody Shelley, and the Bruins 1st round pick.
"It was a steep price to pay, but we're big fans of Peter Schaefer, and our pick wont be until late in the first round. We felt we had the organizational depth to make this deal without hurting our future too much. Sami and Peter will be key cogs to our roster as we look to compete this season, as well as next."
