Blues Make Blockbuster

The St Louis Blues have been struggling of late, winning just 2 games in their last 9. A shake up was needed, but instead of juggling the lines, the Blues GM Gareth Evans went out and made a trade.

The Vancouver Canucks have been suffering from cap problems of late, losing Jagr to going over the cap and Hasek from going under it. Because of the loss, the Canucks needed to add some salary. The Blues were looking to shed some, and a deal was struck just after 8am EST.

Gone to the Canucks is the imposing figure of Adam Foote, Foote has been providing the Blues with solid defense and has even chipped in a respectable 8 points. Also moving to beautiful British Columbia is Jamie Langenbrunner, who had been leading the Blues in scoring for the majority of the season but his production has tailed off in the last few games.

Pittsburgh's 6th round pick in 2008 was also included in on the deal.Coming back to St Louis is youth, the most impressive is Marc-Edouard Vlasic who playing on the Canucks blueline has registered 13 points, including 5 goals. To cover the loss of Langenbrunner, Drew Stafford is also headed to St Louis where he is expected to suit up for the first game on the Blues third line. The Blues also lost over 6 million dollars in cap room, which will be hopefully used to bring in another defenseman and a third line center.
