I am with Jay on this one. No top calibre NHL dman should ever be beat by ANY forward 1 on 1... I don't care who it is. Does it happen? Sure... but Toews will try the same (or similar) move again, and it will not work the next 100 times.
lol.... Yes, this message board is amazing. The point is, the dman is at fault, no question. The argument before was something along the lines of "Hannan is a great dman and Toews made him look stupid with his skill". My reply is, the dman played it horribly, and if the same play were to occur again 98 times out of 100 Toews would not get to the net.
Obviously the 1 or 2 times it does happen is great, but lets be realistic about NHL calibre dmen such as Hannan, they dont get beat 1 on 1 very often, and when they do, it is more their fault than the "greatness" of the player that went around them (or a long shift, injury or some other outside factor).
Seriously, I don't care how good a skater is, he should not get through a one on three rush. Three guys going for a poke check, nobody stepped up (one guy was trailing so he gets a small pass on that). It was a great play by Toews, but that is also inexcusable defense.
haha I still dont understand you guys. Forwards have pretty much an equal chance of beating defencemen one way or another as they have in stopping them. Whether its by passing it off, dumping it in or deking him out. I cant believe some of you think that a dman should stop guys 100% of the time lol.
