CAP COMES INTO EFFECT EARLY AND PUTS ANOTHER STUD ON UFA MARKET

as it is apparent that with the team close to the cap coming into the season and st.louis now suspended for 93 games and him being their former highest paid player is this what happened?

Wow sucks for the aves. Looks like the West is a 3 horse race- Calgary, Chicago, and SJ. What sucks even more is that he had another year left. Ouch.....

Hold the horses boys. The league will see in their email that I put both donovan and zyuzin down to the minors. I don't know why GM editor did not allow it, just like i don't understand how you can't put a goalie 73OV on waivers and if he clears he is in the farm.
If you look at my history, i have always been very tight on the cap and have never gone over...it will be resolved...

To avoid the problem that results when teams sign unrestricted free agents to massive contracts, and then they decide that they can't afford them, or the player's rating has reduced from 79 to 73 OV between seasons and the GM feels that the player is no longer worth the $8M salary that he had been earning the previous year.  If this were allowed contract prices would most certainly go up as there would be no reason not to offer ridiculous amounts of money to a player.  You could effectively keep him away from your competitors, while at the same time, ensuring that he doesn't affect your cap.  This would certainly be a bad way to go and you should be able to plainly see what it is not allowed.

Ian, that's not to say you couldnt win. Its more of a assessment of the power in the West. Do you think your team is in the same league as SJ and Chicago??

look at the talent on tampa, and look at mine, realistically I shouldn't win any games against them, but I won two in a row... just because some teams don't have the star power that others have, if they have chemistry then they should be able to beat a team of individuals... with detroit, they have a very good young core and FCP, obviously not the same star power as SJ or Chicago, but they'll be able to put up a fight in the conference.... obviously i wouldn't put them any spot higher than 4th, you have chicago in that division, and they won't drop many points...

Eric,
I am trying to keep this between leauge and GM. But if we have to go public wth it...

If you check the mail from the weekend, i clearly sent Donovan and Zyuzin down. St.Loius dressed on monday night, and I thought nothing of it.
But to say after the fact that I was over the cap?
I understand stuff like this happens but there is no way this can be enforced if it was out of my hands.

I agree with Colorado. If it wasnt possible for him to get below the cap, then he cant be punished. If he had a way to do it and just didnt do it, be it for laziness or for complacence, then he should be punished.

On a side note, I still think that there should be first a 25 game suspension and 2nd the loss of the player. I have thought the ruling is way to strict from day one mostly just because sometimes circumstances such as this one arise, where the GM hasnt shown any signs of trying to disobey rules to gain an advantage. It can happen from an honest mistake and I dont think an honest mistake should ever result in the loss of your BEST player.

We need a new accounting system for the CAP..

In the best interest of the league, we can NOT have GMs losing their MVPs due to silly things like email confusion, connection problems or being away on vacation for a few days.

Here is a system that has been used in other leagues that has worked GREAT!!

Simply put......

the sum of a team's top 23 salaries should count against the cap......

not the 23 best players......but salaries.......that is meant to include the "Jose Theodores" making millions in the minors...

I know the #1 argument against this is to criticize GMs for playing with fire and being too close to the cap....and not having any foresight for injuries...which I agree with....but Cmon guys, we are not NHL gms, this isnt our fulltime job!! its a lot to ask GMs to be on top of Day-to-day hockey operations.

This new system will make financial monitoring very easy for the Commish and will give GMs some leeway for not being able to check their roster after every sim for injuries and auto-line messups.

Also, this new system will help prevent things like this:
Dallas giving UFA Lalime 3M to play on the farm.
TB giving big money to 69ov UFAs Bates and Adams ($5M) to play on the farm.
Season1 Sabres having like 30 players on the pro roster inorder to meet the cap floor.

I understand the TB/Dallas strategy..they obviously want to get the Farm championship payouts...and good for them for finding a loopwhole in the cap rules......same for BUFF in an attempt to get a really high draft pick.......but these moves do not help the BRHL have parity among teams.

I have a few more ideas..but dont want to overload everyone..haha

Thanks
John

pukus stop i dont want my tax dollars back that the government takes from me and gives to u in the form of those checks u get monthly (or is it twice a month?) ;) ahaha jk man...

but i agree i do take this BRHL2 serious aswell and think its good their is a hard cap its keeps teams active and makes them stay on top of stuff why not buy out fricken sanderson or whoever when he got them?? wouldnt playing a farmer be better than losing his SECOND best player ;)..

The reason this league is so fun in my view is because rules make you be active and it keeps the leagues activity up..

Messageboard conversation is down alot though so maybe this topic will bring about some issue's like sj brought up himself.. which i think is a healthy thing. although i do disagree with his opinion on the cap issue lol
