Isles backup keeper Hedberg gives up Kings Erat winner with 30 sec. remaining

Kings hand Isles their first loss on poor goaltending

Isles Theodore was pulled late in the third when he gave up the tying 5-5 goal with five minutes remaining. Backup Hedberg only faced one shot in the remaining minutes, from Erat with 30 seconds remaining, and let it in for a 5-6 road loss for the Islanders. Saprykin and Semenov were scoreless tonight but a third Russian, Chistov, registered a goal and an assist, good enough for third game star. The team from Long Island sits with a 1-1-1 record, ahead of winless Pittsburgh and New Jersey. Tomorrow the Penguins visit Long Island in an important pace setting game against a divisional rival. A poll is set up to gauge public expectation heading into Wednesday's game. Who will win?

Penguins Fernandez was top star tonight. Only Roenick and Zednik beat him in a 2-4 Isles loss.

Once again those polled were correct.
