Henrik Lundqvist made just 10 saves, but the Panthers were still easy winners in their opener. How that is remains a mystery.
The team is supposed to be Lundqvist and a bunch of scrubs, but for game one it was Rotislave Olesz and Peter Bondra with 4 points each, and a stellar game by the defense that held Edmonton to just 12 shots.
Although it is highly doubtful that this level of play will continue, Panthers fans can celebrate for one night.
Oh well, can't say it's really a shock (although I did think I would get a bit better goaltending......and this does not mean there is a chance of me moving Lundqvist)
The Panthers have now won two in a row, and have more wins (3) than most people expected them to get in a month. Although Lundqvist has been solid, the surprise so far has been the offense, averaging 3 goals per game. Will they keep it up? The guess here is no, but hey, anything can happen in the world of FHLSim Hockey.
