This 80 OV superstar could play on a line with St. Louis (81) and Richards (79) if either Evgeny or Brad is moved to right wing under the Jokinen rule. No prime offensive defensemen to feed the puck bu the team's top passing blueliner happens to be a fellow rookie Keith (74)
Stastny, Capitals
This 77 OV pivot could play with the team's present left winger Yashin (76) and fellow rookie Stempniak (72) could move to right wing. In any event, the team's top passer on the backend is fellow rookie Hainsey (74).
Kopitar, Sabres
This 78 OV pivot will play behind Crosby (84) but might see some ice time with converted right winger Jokinen (80) and/or left winger Rolston (81). There aren't any offensive defenseman in town but Bouwmeester (79) or Blake (78) will help the team maintain puck possession, increasing opportunities in general.
Michalek, Sharks
This speedy 76 OV right winger would be well served on the top 5-man unit with Ovechkin (83) and Lidstrom (81) but will certainly play with either centre Staal (78) or Williams (78). Fellow San Jose rookie Seabrook (75) will probably get overlooked in Calder voting as defensive defensemen usually are.
Pominville, Stars
This 77 OV right winger could play his rookie year in the BRHL2 with left winger Gagne (81) and passer Zubov (78), or more likely with fellow Stars quality rookies centre Zajac (71) and defender Carle (72).
Lombardi, Hurricanes
This lightning fast 75 OV centre probably won't play with Spezza's wingers Knuble (79) and Straka (78) but BRHL2 sophomore Penner (74) and/or Tkachuk (76) is decent consolation. Little if any help from the blueline.
Staal, Lightning
Jordan the 75 OV left winger will be hard pressed to get quality minutes playing behind Kariya and Tanguay on a contending team. However, if he did, he could have the sweetest time racking up rookie points on ice with centre Sundin (80) or Bergeron (80) or converted right winger Briere (79). No noteworthy blueliners in the passing department. Rookie backup netminder Halak (73) could surprise if he gets the starts behind a team which should help make wins easy.
Beauchemin, Oilers
This top pairing 76 OV defenseman in Edmonton could play with Savard (79), Kovalchuk (79), Blake (78) or Afinogenov (78) and impress alongside Salei (76).
Bieksa, Senators
This 76 OV blueliner is the team's top passer on the backend with Alfredsson (81), Kovalev (78) and Kozlov (78) to help him shine offensively on regular shifts and the powerplay.
Tyutin, Panthers
This 74 OV rearguard only has guys like Comrie (73) and Stillman (72) to play with.
