Does anyone do any painting as a part-time/  fulltime job?

I'm thinking about getting into it as a part time job on my off days from the fire dept.  I was looking to see if anyone does this and can fill me in on any knowledge they have in getting started and what I need. Thanks-Joe NYRGM
