I kinda agree with Kirk, but it's less to do with his skill and more to do with how I think LA will do as a team. I have a feeling it will affect his play more.  just a hunch.

How do you think the team will do next year Eric?

 NHL, Right?

Given that past history would lead me to believe that signing a bunch of FAs rarley leads to success. Plus the lack of a #1 leads me to believe they're anywhere from 11-14th in the West.  They're in a division with ANA and SJ. Not easy Wins. DAL won't be a great team, but I think they're better than LA. Add in PHO and it's a dog fight for 4th, giving LA an edge.

I don't see the Kings doing anything special this year.

I tend to agree with you on the hard division part. They will probably get worked by ANA and SJ all season, though I think they will be right around the 8-10 mark. I think their defence is very good, though having no goaltending could easily cripple the confidence of a great defence. I kinda think they are a big wild card this year. The only real problem I see in the team is goaltending. Aside from that, they are a playoff team IMO.

Obviously I might be a bit biased, but Id be willing to guess Kopitar will put up 28 goals and 47 assists next season for an even 75 pts. Thats my guess. I really think the calder voting shoulda been stastny, Malkin and Kopitar.

Take it for what its worth.

I fully agree, I think Stastny should have won the Calder no question followed by Malkin and Kopitar.  Stastny is a complete player and does it all.  Both Kopitar and Malkin have crazy sick skill but Stastny is captain material bottom line and is the next Joe Sakic.     You guys may think i'm crazy but I love Kopitar more than Malkin as well.  Malkin is nasty but to me lacks that animal drive that you need to fully excel and keep the pace going for a full career.  Kopitar has that look in him that he's never satisfied even when he pulls off sick moves and scores he looks a little bummed like he could have done more.

Just my take-Joe D  NYRGM

I see a down year almost guarenteed from Stastny- and i don't think he's even close to the company of Kopitar and Malkin.

Kopitar led the Kings team in Mins last year as a 19 year old- The jumps in skill in the first 3 NHL seasons are usually quite drastic. If kopitar has less points than last year without injury i'll shave my head.

Actually, many (if not most) players struggle more in their 2nd year and then come back in their 3rd...  I could see this happening with Kopitar (although I won't predict it for him either way).

I'll hold you to that

I could definitely see Kopitar get 75+ points next year and Stastny getting ~65

Phew. Looks like Aaron and my predictions were pretty spot on- in fact, he's exceeded expectations. 20 years old, man.

i don't really see your point how stastny had a down year? he's doing better point per game than last, the only reason he's not matching the point total is because of his injury...

granted that kopitar is on pace for more points than last, but if he was healthy last season he would have been around the 70 point mark...
